Participant engagement: 3 ways to a memorable event

Estimated reading time: 3 minutes

Who likes boring events with a predetermined timeline? Most probably it depends on the nature of the event you organize. Nevertheless, we all strive for the better every day and we are pretty sure you do too!

Especially engaging your participants before the actual event might be already the right step to take toward an event to remember.

Read on, because we prepared some participant engagement: 3 ways to a memorable event that you definitely need to know!

1. Break the ice with some anticipation

Or in other words… create a pre-event game with gamification elements. This can already break the ice between colleagues. How, you mind be wondering. Well, there is only one way to find out! For instance, you can send out a letter by email/post a couple of weeks prior to the event with some quizzes and riddles for your participants to get more in tune with what will follow.

The anticipation could also consist of assignments to solve in a set period of time or to solve a storytelling mystery. Everything is possible if you switch on your creative side!

2. Make participants engage with the present moment

Maybe you have experienced some monotonous episodes of an event because it simply just started feeling linear. It’s human nature for the mind to start wandering and disconnecting from the present. Now, this is the exact thing we are hinting at you to avoid doing. Additionally, avoid making your event linear and instead, try and add some surprise elements to it.

You are definitely going to grasp the concept if we mentioned backward music guessing or charades. What about some quizzes and riddles to make everyone more used to each other and get to know the company more? This specific element can be even used for a fun and interactive office game.

3. Add digital tools to foster connections

If you already kept in mind some tools to break the ice with some anticipation, there is also room for a proper introduction during the event. Let’s say your colleagues/employees feel quite uncomfortable with each other because they have not properly introduced themselves. Even not spending time with each other on breaks could be the case when it comes to getting socially familiar at the office.

We are all used to encountering the same problems, for which UP Digital actually created MEET&CONNECT, the introductory game that is meant to solve the problems above. By trying out MEET&CONNECT you not only develop a better sense of colleagueship, but also encourage healthy competition.

Participant engagement: 3 ways to a memorable event… not too difficult to keep in mind and put in practice for proper participant engagement, is it?
