Dura Vermeer chooses Onboarding game from UP Events

A while ago UP Events organized an event for Dura Vermeer at UP’s own location, in the Tuinen van West in Amsterdam. It a pleasant cooperation, which made Dura Vermeer eager to develop a custom-made onboarding game with UP Events. Dura Vermeer set some specific wishes and goals to which this game could contribute.

For example, the Onboarding game helps give new employees a warm welcome and quickly get them acquainted with the company.

We want to stand out with our onboarding process in our industry

Rick Gouderjaan, HR-adviseur bij Dura Vermeer

He continued:

In addition, among other things, we wanted to use this to flesh out our strategic pillar of “digitization” within HR

Dura Vermeer kwam via via terecht bij UP Events.

A colleague, who has worked with UP before, was very enthusiastic

Flawless collaboration

Collaborating on the production of the game is new for many companies, but it works perfectly. This allows the Onboarding game to be completely tailored to the company’s needs.

The cooperation was flawless. The guidance and instructions from UP Events were crisp and clear and the game became very accessible and user-friendly

Dura Vermeer would therefore definitely recommend UP to other companies.

UP is to the point. They are great at translating our needs into concrete ideas and solutions. They are service-oriented, creative and deliver a unique product. Questions and comments were quickly answered and feedback on the game was quickly incorporated. There was a tight deadline on the development of the game and UP Events did everything possible to meet it

Positive reactions

In retrospect, the Onboarding game is almost always cited as the part that new employees remembered most on their first day.

It works well because it is fun as well as educational

New employees learn about the organization through play. The digital game is innovative, revolves around cooperation, as well as competition, and is just plain fun

What exactly is an Onboarding game?

Many companies struggle with a number of issues when starting new employees:

  • How do you bring new employees into the existing corporate culture?
  • How do you get all new employees into a company’s corporate strategy? The corporate strategy can be complicated – but it is a must that new employees are fully aware of it.
  • How do you ensure that new employees are smoothly and completely introduced to the company?

The Onboarding game tackles these issues in an accessible way. The Onboarding Game revolves around:

  • Active participation
  • Interaction among the new employees
  • Impactful knowledge transfer
  • Collaboration

The Onboarding Game is a “tablet game. The game is played in teams and each team gets a tablet at their disposal. The size of the teams can be determined as desired, but it usually involves teams of 2-6 players. The game is made up of various questions about the company. It revolves around company culture, employees, products and other important information for new employees.

Using a GPS route with QR codes, employees walk through the company and answer new questions along the way each time to progress in the game. The structure of the questions can vary from open questions and multiple choice, to interactive questions involving photo & video.

An Onboarding Game is not only informative. Because in addition to the vision, core values and culture of a company, informal aspects and fun insights can also be effortlessly integrated into the game, making the game not only functional but also a lot of fun.
